The Afghan Afghani (AFN) is the official currency of Afghanistan, reintroduced in 2002 after decades of conflict and monetary instability. The new afghani replaced the old afghani at a rate of 1,000 to 1, successfully reducing the denominations in circulation. Da Afghanistan Bank is the central bank responsible for its issuance. The afghani has experienced significant volatility in recent years due to political instability and international sanctions. The currency is divided into 100 pul, though pul coins are rarely used in practice due to their negligible value.
About Lebanese Pound
The Lebanese Pound (LBP) has been in a state of severe crisis since 2019, when Lebanon entered its worst economic collapse since the civil war. The pound lost over 95% of its value as the banking system froze dollar deposits, the government defaulted on its debt, and rampant money printing fuelled hyperinflation. Formally introduced in 1939 and once pegged at 1,507 LBP per USD for decades (providing artificial stability), the multiple exchange rates and loss of the peg created a chaotic monetary situation. The Banque du Liban manages the currency.
