About Bangladeshi Taka
The Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) has been the official currency of Bangladesh since the country's independence in 1971, replacing the Pakistani rupee. Due to decades of international economic sanctions and domestic monetary mismanagement, the rial has experienced catastrophic depreciation - losing over 99.9% of its value against the dollar since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. In 2020, the Iranian parliament approved a redenomination plan replacing 10,000 rials with 1 new toman, though full implementation has been slow. The Central Bank of Iran issues currency and manages monetary policy.
