About Bangladeshi Taka
The Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) has been the official currency of Bangladesh since the country's independence in 1971, replacing the Pakistani rupee. The word "taka" derives from the Sanskrit "tankah", an ancient silver coin. Bangladesh Bank, the central bank, manages monetary policy. The taka is divided into 100 poisha. The Moroccan Dirham (MAD) has been the official currency of Morocco since 1960, replacing the franc used during the French protectorate period. Bank Al-Maghrib manages monetary policy with a managed float exchange rate pegged to a basket of the Euro and US Dollar. Morocco has one of Africa's most diversified economies, with revenues from phosphate exports (the world's third largest producer), tourism, remittances from Moroccans abroad, and growing manufacturing including automotive and aerospace sectors. Morocco has signed a free trade agreement with the EU.
