About Bangladeshi Taka
The Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) has been the official currency of Bangladesh since the country's independence in 1971, replacing the Pakistani rupee. The word "taka" derives from the Sanskrit "tankah", an ancient silver coin. Bangladesh Bank, the central bank, manages monetary policy. The taka is divided into 100 poisha. The Qatari Riyal (QAR) is the official currency of Qatar, one of the world's wealthiest countries by per capita income. The riyal has been pegged to the US Dollar at 3.64 QAR per USD since 2001, a peg maintained with ease due to Qatar's enormous oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) revenues. Qatar holds the world's third largest proven natural gas reserves and is the world's largest exporter of LNG. The Qatar Central Bank manages the peg. The country hosted the FIFA World Cup in 2022, showcasing massive infrastructure development.
