About Bangladeshi Taka
The Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) has been the official currency of Bangladesh since the country's independence in 1971, replacing the Pakistani rupee. The word "taka" derives from the Sanskrit "tankah", an ancient silver coin. Bangladesh Bank, the central bank, manages monetary policy. The taka is divided into 100 poisha. Bangladesh's economy has grown remarkably over the past three decades, powered primarily by its garment and textile export industry - the second largest in the world after China.

Turkey redenominated in 2005, replacing the old Turkish lira at a rate of 1,000,000 to 1 to eliminate the impact of decades of high inflation. The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) manages monetary policy. Turkey has experienced acute currency crises and high inflation periodically, with significant depreciations in 2018, 2021, and after the earthquake of 2023.
