About Bolivian Boliviano
The Bolivian Boliviano (BOB) is the official currency of Bolivia, named after Simon Bolivar, the independence hero of Latin America. The current boliviano was introduced in 1987, replacing the peso boliviano at a rate of 1,000,000 to 1 following a period of devastating hyperinflation in the mid-1980s when annual inflation reached 24,000%. The Moldovan Leu (MDL) has been the official currency of Moldova since 1993, replacing the Moldovan cupon interim currency used after independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. The word "leu" means "lion" in Romanian. The National Bank of Moldova manages monetary policy with a managed float.
