About Brazilian Real
The Brazilian Real (BRL) was introduced on 1 July 1994 as a cornerstone of the Plano Real economic stabilisation programme, which successfully ended decades of hyperinflation that had reached over 2,000% annually. The Uruguayan Peso (UYU) is the official currency of Uruguay, one of Latin America's most stable, prosperous, and democratic nations. The current peso was introduced in 1993, replacing the nuevo peso at a rate of 1,000 to 1 following a period of inflation. The Banco Central del Uruguay manages monetary policy with a floating exchange rate. Uruguay has a well-developed economy with high per capita income relative to regional peers, driven by agriculture (soybeans, beef, dairy, rice, wool), financial services, software exports, and tourism.
