About Canadian Dollar
The Canadian Dollar (CAD), nicknamed the "Loonie" after the loon bird on the one-dollar coin, was introduced in 1858 and has been the official currency of Canada since Confederation in 1867. It is the sixth most traded currency in global foreign exchange markets. Canada's economy is among the world's ten largest and is closely integrated with the US economy under the USMCA (formerly NAFTA) agreement. The Bank of Canada manages monetary policy with a floating exchange rate.
About Kyrgyzstani Som
The Kyrgyzstani Som (KGS) has been the official currency of Kyrgyzstan since 1993, replacing the Soviet ruble following independence. The word "som" means "pure" in Kyrgyz and several other Turkic languages, historically referring to pure silver or gold. The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic manages monetary policy with a managed float regime. Kyrgyzstan is a Central Asian country with a landlocked mountain economy dependent on gold mining (the Kumtor mine is one of Central Asia's largest), remittances from workers in Russia and Kazakhstan, agriculture, and some manufacturing.
