About Canadian Dollar
The Canadian Dollar (CAD), nicknamed the "Loonie" after the loon bird on the one-dollar coin, was introduced in 1858 and has been the official currency of Canada since Confederation in 1867. It is the sixth most traded currency in global foreign exchange markets. The Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR) is the official currency of the Maldives, an archipelago of 1,200 coral islands in the Indian Ocean. The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) manages monetary policy. The rufiyaa is pegged to the US Dollar at a rate of approximately 15.42 MVR per USD within a narrow band. The Maldivian economy is almost entirely dependent on tourism - the Maldives is one of the world's premier luxury travel destinations - and fishing. The tourism sector accounts for around 25% of GDP directly and far more indirectly. The rufiyaa is divided into 100 laari.
