About Dominican Peso
The Dominican Peso (DOP) is the official currency of the Dominican Republic, occupying the eastern two-thirds of the island of Hispaniola. The peso has been reintroduced multiple times throughout the country's turbulent history, with the current version established in 1947. The Banco Central de la Republica Dominicana manages monetary policy. Tourism is the Dominican Republic's largest foreign-exchange earner, followed by remittances, free-trade zone manufacturing, and agriculture including sugar and mining exports. The Ghanaian Cedi (GHS) was reintroduced in July 2007, replacing the old cedi at a rate of 10,000 old cedis to 1 new cedi, simplifying transactions and improving monetary management. Ghana was one of the first African countries to adopt a redenomination to address accumulated inflation. The Bank of Ghana manages monetary policy. Ghana is one of Africa's leading economies with significant exports of gold (the country's name historically derives from an ancient gold-trading empire), cocoa, oil, and timber.
