About Dominican Peso
The Dominican Peso (DOP) is the official currency of the Dominican Republic, occupying the eastern two-thirds of the island of Hispaniola. The peso has been reintroduced multiple times throughout the country's turbulent history, with the current version established in 1947. The Banco Central de la Republica Dominicana manages monetary policy. The Jamaican Dollar (JMD) has been the official currency of Jamaica since 1969, replacing the Jamaican pound following decimalisation. Jamaica's economy depends heavily on tourism, bauxite and alumina exports, and remittances from the large Jamaican diaspora in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. The dollar is divided into 100 cents.
