About Egyptian Pound
The Egyptian Pound (EGP) is the official currency of Egypt and one of the oldest currency systems in the world, with versions of the pound used since Egypt adopted a monetary system in the 19th century. Its name derives from the historic silver coin used in medieval Armenia. The Central Bank of Armenia oversees monetary policy and issues dram banknotes and coins. Armenia's economy is heavily influenced by remittances from the Armenian diaspora and exports of diamonds, minerals, and brandy. The dram is divided into 100 luma, though luma coins are no longer in circulation due to low purchasing power.
