About Egyptian Pound
The Egyptian Pound (EGP) is the official currency of Egypt and one of the oldest currency systems in the world, with versions of the pound used since Egypt adopted a monetary system in the 19th century. The Central Bank of Egypt manages monetary policy. Egypt is the most populous Arab country and the third most populous in Africa, with an economy driven by tourism, Suez Canal revenues, remittances, oil exports, and agriculture. The Ethiopian Birr (ETB) is the official currency of Ethiopia, the second most populous country in Africa and one of the world's fastest-growing economies. The word "birr" means "silver" in Amharic. The National Bank of Ethiopia manages monetary policy. Ethiopia's economy is largely agricultural - it is the world's largest producer of chat (khat) and one of the largest of coffee, which is believed to have originated in the Ethiopian highlands. The birr is divided into 100 santim.
