About Euro
The Euro (EUR) is the official currency of the Eurozone, comprising 20 of the 27 European Union member states - the single largest currency union in the world by GDP. Introduced in non-physical form on 1 January 1999 and as banknotes and coins on 1 January 2002, the Euro replaced participating national currencies such as the Deutsche Mark, French Franc, Italian Lira, and Spanish Peseta. The Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) is the official currency of Indonesia, the world's fourth most populous country and largest archipelago nation. The word "rupiah" derives from the Sanskrit "rupyakam" (silver). First issued in 1946, the rupiah replaced the Dutch colonial guilder. Bank Indonesia manages monetary policy. Indonesia is a member of the G20 and has one of Southeast Asia's largest economies, driven by natural resource exports (coal, palm oil, rubber, metals) and a growing domestic consumer market.
