About Euro
The Euro (EUR) is the official currency of the Eurozone, comprising 20 of the 27 European Union member states - the single largest currency union in the world by GDP. Introduced in non-physical form on 1 January 1999 and as banknotes and coins on 1 January 2002, the Euro replaced participating national currencies such as the Deutsche Mark, French Franc, Italian Lira, and Spanish Peseta. About Icelandic Krona
The Icelandic Krona (ISK) is the official currency of Iceland, one of the world's most sparsely populated countries but with a high standard of living. The krona has been subject to notable turbulence - during the 2008 global financial crisis, Iceland's banking system collapsed spectacularly and the krona lost about half its value virtually overnight, requiring capital controls that remained in place until 2017. The Central Bank of Iceland manages monetary policy. Iceland's economy is based on fishing, aluminium smelting, geothermal energy, and increasingly tourism.
