About Euro
The Euro (EUR) is the official currency of the Eurozone, comprising 20 of the 27 European Union member states - the single largest currency union in the world by GDP. Introduced in non-physical form on 1 January 1999 and as banknotes and coins on 1 January 2002, the Euro replaced participating national currencies such as the Deutsche Mark, French Franc, Italian Lira, and Spanish Peseta. About Turkish Lira
The Turkish Lira (TRY) is the official currency of Turkey and Turkish Northern Cyprus. Turkey redenominated in 2005, replacing the old Turkish lira at a rate of 1,000,000 to 1 to eliminate the impact of decades of high inflation. The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) manages monetary policy. Turkey has experienced acute currency crises and high inflation periodically, with significant depreciations in 2018, 2021, and after the earthquake of 2023.
