About Euro
The Euro (EUR) is the official currency of the Eurozone, comprising 20 of the 27 European Union member states - the single largest currency union in the world by GDP. About Ukrainian Hryvnia
The Ukrainian Hryvnia (UAH) has been the official currency of Ukraine since 1996, replacing the karbovanets interim currency used after Soviet dissolution in 1991. The name "hryvnia" refers to a historical silver ingot currency used in Kievan Rus. The National Bank of Ukraine manages monetary policy. Since Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, the hryvnia has operated under capital controls and a managed exchange rate to maintain economic stability during wartime. Ukraine is a major global exporter of wheat, corn, sunflower oil, and steel.
