About Ghanaian Cedi
The Ghanaian Cedi (GHS) was reintroduced in July 2007, replacing the old cedi at a rate of 10,000 old cedis to 1 new cedi, simplifying transactions and improving monetary management. Ghana was one of the first African countries to adopt a redenomination to address accumulated inflation. The Bank of Ghana manages monetary policy. Ghana is one of Africa's leading economies with significant exports of gold (the country's name historically derives from an ancient gold-trading empire), cocoa, oil, and timber.
About Egyptian Pound
The Egyptian Pound (EGP) is the official currency of Egypt and one of the oldest currency systems in the world, with versions of the pound used since Egypt adopted a monetary system in the 19th century. The Central Bank of Egypt manages monetary policy. Egypt is the most populous Arab country and the third most populous in Africa, with an economy driven by tourism, Suez Canal revenues, remittances, oil exports, and agriculture. The pound underwent significant devaluations in 2016 and 2023 as Egypt moved to a more flexible exchange rate policy under IMF-backed economic reform programmes.
