The Ghanaian Cedi (GHS) was reintroduced in July 2007, replacing the old cedi at a rate of 10,000 old cedis to 1 new cedi, simplifying transactions and improving monetary management. Ghana was one of the first African countries to adopt a redenomination to address accumulated inflation. The Bank of Ghana manages monetary policy. Ghana is one of Africa's leading economies with significant exports of gold (the country's name historically derives from an ancient gold-trading empire), cocoa, oil, and timber.

The Tanzanian Shilling (TZS) has been the official currency of Tanzania since 1966, replacing the East African shilling. The Bank of Tanzania manages monetary policy.
