About Guatemalan Quetzal

The Guatemalan Quetzal (GTQ) is the official currency of Guatemala, named after the resplendent quetzal bird, the national symbol of Guatemala and one of the world's most spectacular tropical birds. The quetzal was introduced in 1925, replacing the peso. The Banco de Guatemala manages monetary policy. Guatemala is the largest economy in Central America, with agriculture (coffee, sugar, bananas, cardamom) accounting for a significant share of exports. The quetzal has maintained relative stability compared to many Latin American currencies.

About Cambodian Riel

The Cambodian Riel (KHR) is the official currency of Cambodia but exists in an unusual dual-currency environment where the US Dollar is widely used alongside the riel for most large transactions. The riel was reintroduced in 1980 after the Khmer Rouge abolished currency entirely between 1975 and 1979 - one of only two instances in modern history where a national currency was completely abolished. The National Bank of Cambodia manages monetary policy. Cambodia's economy has grown rapidly, fuelled by garment exports, tourism, and construction.
