About Israeli New Shekel
The Israeli New Shekel (ILS) has been the official currency of Israel since 1986, replacing the old shekel at a rate of 1,000 to 1. The shekel is one of the oldest monetary units in human history, mentioned throughout the Hebrew Bible as a weight of silver. About Myanmar Kyat
The Myanmar Kyat (MMK) is the official currency of Myanmar (formerly Burma), managed by the Central Bank of Myanmar. The kyat has experienced extraordinary volatility following the military coup of February 2021, which led to international sanctions, economic disruption, and a collapse in investor confidence. The kyat lost a significant portion of its value in the years following the coup. Myanmar's economy was based on natural gas exports, garments, jade and gems, rice, and tourism prior to the coup. The parallel market exchange rate often diverges significantly from the official rate.
