About Indian Rupee
The Indian Rupee (INR) is the official currency of India, the world's most populous country and fifth largest economy. The name "rupee" derives from the Sanskrit "rupyakam" (silver coin), used since the Maurya Empire around 300 BCE. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) manages monetary policy. The Algerian Dinar (DZD) has been the official currency of Algeria since 1964, replacing the Algerian franc used during the French colonial period. The Banque d'Algerie manages monetary policy. Algeria is the largest country in Africa by land area and holds significant hydrocarbon reserves - oil and natural gas account for the majority of government revenues and export earnings. The dinar operates under a managed float exchange regime and is not freely convertible. Algeria has used foreign exchange controls and import restrictions to manage its balance of payments.
