About Icelandic Krona
The Icelandic Krona (ISK) is the official currency of Iceland, one of the world's most sparsely populated countries but with a high standard of living. The krona has been subject to notable turbulence - during the 2008 global financial crisis, Iceland's banking system collapsed spectacularly and the krona lost about half its value virtually overnight, requiring capital controls that remained in place until 2017.
