About Jamaican Dollar
The Jamaican Dollar (JMD) has been the official currency of Jamaica since 1969, replacing the Jamaican pound following decimalisation. The Bank of Jamaica manages monetary policy with a floating exchange rate, and the JMD has depreciated steadily over the decades relative to major currencies. The Albanian Lek (ALL) is the official currency of Albania, with a history dating back to 1926. The name "lek" is believed to derive from a shortened form of "Aleksander", referring to Alexander the Great, who is celebrated in Albanian culture. Albania is a candidate for European Union membership, and the lek may eventually be replaced by the Euro upon accession. The Bank of Albania issues the lek, which is divided into 100 qindarka. Albania's economy is transitioning from a communist system to a market economy, and the lek has gradually stabilised over the past two decades.
