About Jamaican Dollar
The Jamaican Dollar (JMD) has been the official currency of Jamaica since 1969, replacing the Jamaican pound following decimalisation. The Bank of Jamaica manages monetary policy with a floating exchange rate, and the JMD has depreciated steadily over the decades relative to major currencies. Jamaica's economy depends heavily on tourism, bauxite and alumina exports, and remittances from the large Jamaican diaspora in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. The Ethiopian Birr (ETB) is the official currency of Ethiopia, the second most populous country in Africa and one of the world's fastest-growing economies. The word "birr" means "silver" in Amharic. The National Bank of Ethiopia manages monetary policy. Ethiopia's economy is largely agricultural - it is the world's largest producer of chat (khat) and one of the largest of coffee, which is believed to have originated in the Ethiopian highlands. The birr is divided into 100 santim.
