About Jamaican Dollar
The Jamaican Dollar (JMD) has been the official currency of Jamaica since 1969, replacing the Jamaican pound following decimalisation. The Bank of Jamaica manages monetary policy with a floating exchange rate, and the JMD has depreciated steadily over the decades relative to major currencies. Jamaica's economy depends heavily on tourism, bauxite and alumina exports, and remittances from the large Jamaican diaspora in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. The Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR) is the official currency of the Maldives, an archipelago of 1,200 coral islands in the Indian Ocean. The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) manages monetary policy. The rufiyaa is pegged to the US Dollar at a rate of approximately 15.42 MVR per USD within a narrow band. The Maldivian economy is almost entirely dependent on tourism - the Maldives is one of the world's premier luxury travel destinations - and fishing. The tourism sector accounts for around 25% of GDP directly and far more indirectly. The rufiyaa is divided into 100 laari.
