About Japanese Yen
The Japanese Yen (JPY) is the official currency of Japan and the third most traded currency in global foreign exchange markets, accounting for approximately 17% of daily forex turnover. Introduced in 1871 as part of the Meiji government's monetary reforms, the yen replaced a complex system of Feudal domain currencies. The Bank of Japan (BoJ) manages monetary policy. The Icelandic Krona (ISK) is the official currency of Iceland, one of the world's most sparsely populated countries but with a high standard of living. The krona has been subject to notable turbulence - during the 2008 global financial crisis, Iceland's banking system collapsed spectacularly and the krona lost about half its value virtually overnight, requiring capital controls that remained in place until 2017. The Central Bank of Iceland manages monetary policy. Iceland's economy is based on fishing, aluminium smelting, geothermal energy, and increasingly tourism.
