About Lebanese Pound
The Lebanese Pound (LBP) has been in a state of severe crisis since 2019, when Lebanon entered its worst economic collapse since the civil war. The pound lost over 95% of its value as the banking system froze dollar deposits, the government defaulted on its debt, and rampant money printing fuelled hyperinflation. Formally introduced in 1939 and once pegged at 1,507 LBP per USD for decades (providing artificial stability), the multiple exchange rates and loss of the peg created a chaotic monetary situation. The Banque du Liban manages the currency.
About Swiss Franc
The Swiss Franc (CHF) is the official currency of Switzerland and Liechtenstein, and one of the most important safe-haven currencies in the world. The name "franc" derives from the Latin "Francorum Rex" (King of the Franks). Switzerland is not a European Union member and has maintained its own currency, which regularly appreciates during global financial uncertainty due to Switzerland's political neutrality, strong banking sector, and fiscal discipline. The Swiss National Bank (SNB) manages monetary policy.
