About Moroccan Dirham

The Moroccan Dirham (MAD) has been the official currency of Morocco since 1960, replacing the franc used during the French protectorate period. Bank Al-Maghrib manages monetary policy with a managed float exchange rate pegged to a basket of the Euro and US Dollar. Morocco has one of Africa's most diversified economies, with revenues from phosphate exports (the world's third largest producer), tourism, remittances from Moroccans abroad, and growing manufacturing including automotive and aerospace sectors. Morocco has signed a free trade agreement with the EU.

About Costa Rican Colon

The Costa Rican Colon (CRC) is the official currency of Costa Rica, named after Christopher Columbus (Cristobal Colon in Spanish) who arrived on the coast of Costa Rica in 1502. Introduced in 1896, it replaced the Costa Rican peso. The Banco Central de Costa Rica manages monetary policy. Costa Rica is notable in Latin America for its stable democracy, high standard of living, and strong eco-tourism and technology sectors. The colon is divided into 100 centimos, though low-value centimo coins are rarely used.
