About Moroccan Dirham
The Moroccan Dirham (MAD) has been the official currency of Morocco since 1960, replacing the franc used during the French protectorate period. Tunisia has one of North Africa's most diversified economies, with phosphate mining (one of the world's top producers), olive oil, tourism, and textiles as major industries. The dinar is not fully convertible and Tunisians face restrictions on foreign currency exchange. Tunisia has faced economic challenges following the 2011 Arab Spring revolution and subsequent political instability.
