About Myanmar Kyat
The Myanmar Kyat (MMK) is the official currency of Myanmar (formerly Burma), managed by the Central Bank of Myanmar. The kyat has experienced extraordinary volatility following the military coup of February 2021, which led to international sanctions, economic disruption, and a collapse in investor confidence. The kyat lost a significant portion of its value in the years following the coup. Myanmar's economy was based on natural gas exports, garments, jade and gems, rice, and tourism prior to the coup. The Belarusian Ruble (BYN) is the official currency of Belarus. A redenomination occurred on 1 July 2016 at a rate of 1 new ruble to 10,000 old rubles (BYR), simplifying transactions and reducing the size of banknote denominations.
