About Macanese Pataca
The Macanese Pataca (MOP) is the official currency of Macau Special Administrative Region of China, used alongside the Hong Kong Dollar (which is widely accepted at a rate of 1 HKD = 1.03 MOP approximately). The pataca has been pegged to the HKD since 1977. Macau is the only place in China where gambling is legal, making its economy - per capita one of the world's richest - almost entirely dependent on gaming and tourism revenues. The Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR) is the official currency of the Maldives, an archipelago of 1,200 coral islands in the Indian Ocean. The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) manages monetary policy. The rufiyaa is pegged to the US Dollar at a rate of approximately 15.42 MVR per USD within a narrow band. The Maldivian economy is almost entirely dependent on tourism - the Maldives is one of the world's premier luxury travel destinations - and fishing. The tourism sector accounts for around 25% of GDP directly and far more indirectly. The rufiyaa is divided into 100 laari.
