About Maldivian Rufiyaa
The Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR) is the official currency of the Maldives, an archipelago of 1,200 coral islands in the Indian Ocean. The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) manages monetary policy. The Israeli New Shekel (ILS) has been the official currency of Israel since 1986, replacing the old shekel at a rate of 1,000 to 1. The shekel is one of the oldest monetary units in human history, mentioned throughout the Hebrew Bible as a weight of silver. The Bank of Israel manages monetary policy with a free-floating exchange rate.
