About Maldivian Rufiyaa
The Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR) is the official currency of the Maldives, an archipelago of 1,200 coral islands in the Indian Ocean. The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) manages monetary policy. The rufiyaa is pegged to the US Dollar at a rate of approximately 15.42 MVR per USD within a narrow band. The Maldivian economy is almost entirely dependent on tourism - the Maldives is one of the world's premier luxury travel destinations - and fishing. About Russian Ruble
The Russian Ruble (RUB) is one of the world's oldest currencies, with roots dating to the 13th century as a silver ingot used in medieval Kievan Rus. The Bank of Russia manages monetary policy with a floating exchange rate, adopted in 2014. Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the ruble experienced a sharp depreciation due to unprecedented international sanctions but subsequently recovered due to capital controls, mandatory export revenue conversion, and high energy prices.
