About Malaysian Ringgit
The Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) is the official currency of Malaysia. The word "ringgit" means "jagged" in Malay, describing the milled or serrated edges of old Spanish silver dollars that once circulated in the region. Bank Negara Malaysia manages monetary policy. Malaysia has one of Southeast Asia's most diversified and developed economies, with major exports including electronics, petroleum products, palm oil, rubber, and liquefied natural gas. Malaysia is the world's second largest producer of palm oil.
About Kyrgyzstani Som
The Kyrgyzstani Som (KGS) has been the official currency of Kyrgyzstan since 1993, replacing the Soviet ruble following independence. The word "som" means "pure" in Kyrgyz and several other Turkic languages, historically referring to pure silver or gold. The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic manages monetary policy with a managed float regime. Kyrgyzstan is a Central Asian country with a landlocked mountain economy dependent on gold mining (the Kumtor mine is one of Central Asia's largest), remittances from workers in Russia and Kazakhstan, agriculture, and some manufacturing.
