About Omani Rial
The Omani Rial (OMR) is the official currency of the Sultanate of Oman and one of the highest-valued currencies in the world by exchange rate. Introduced in 1973 to replace the Saidi rial, it has been pegged to the US Dollar at 0.3845 OMR per USD since 1986. This peg has remained stable even during periods of lower oil prices, supported by government reserves. The Central Bank of Oman manages the peg. The Armenian Dram (AMD) became the official currency of Armenia in November 1993, replacing the Soviet ruble following the country's independence from the USSR in 1991. Armenia's economy is heavily influenced by remittances from the Armenian diaspora and exports of diamonds, minerals, and brandy.
