About Pakistani Rupee
The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) is the official currency of Pakistan, the world's fifth most populous country. At independence in 1947, Pakistan adopted the Indian rupee and later issued its own currency. About Bangladeshi Taka
The Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) has been the official currency of Bangladesh since the country's independence in 1971, replacing the Pakistani rupee. The word "taka" derives from the Sanskrit "tankah", an ancient silver coin. Bangladesh Bank, the central bank, manages monetary policy. The taka is divided into 100 poisha. Bangladesh's economy has grown remarkably over the past three decades, powered primarily by its garment and textile export industry - the second largest in the world after China.
