About Pakistani Rupee
The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) is the official currency of Pakistan, the world's fifth most populous country. At independence in 1947, Pakistan adopted the Indian rupee and later issued its own currency. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) manages monetary policy. Pakistan's economy has faced recurring balance-of-payments crises, heavy dependence on IMF support programmes, high inflation, and external debt pressures - all of which have contributed to sustained depreciation of the rupee over decades.
About Lebanese Pound
The Lebanese Pound (LBP) has been in a state of severe crisis since 2019, when Lebanon entered its worst economic collapse since the civil war. The pound lost over 95% of its value as the banking system froze dollar deposits, the government defaulted on its debt, and rampant money printing fuelled hyperinflation. Formally introduced in 1939 and once pegged at 1,507 LBP per USD for decades (providing artificial stability), the multiple exchange rates and loss of the peg created a chaotic monetary situation. The Banque du Liban manages the currency.
