About Polish Zloty
The Polish Zloty (PLN) is the official currency of Poland, the sixth largest economy in the European Union and the largest in Central Europe. The word "zloty" means "golden" in Polish. The National Bank of Poland (NBP) manages monetary policy with a floating exchange rate. Poland has been an EU member since 2004 but has not yet adopted the Euro, retaining the zloty as both a practical monetary instrument and a symbol of national identity. The South African Rand (ZAR) is the official currency of South Africa, taking its name from the Witwatersrand (White Waters Ridge), the major gold reef that underpins the Johannesburg metropolitan area and made South Africa the world's leading gold producer for much of the 20th century. Introduced in 1961 when South Africa became a republic, the rand replaced the South African pound. The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) manages monetary policy with a floating exchange rate.
