About Paraguayan Guarani
The Paraguayan Guarani (PYG) is the official currency of Paraguay, named after the indigenous Guarani people who constitute a significant portion of the Paraguayan population and whose language is co-official with Spanish. Introduced in 1944, the guarani replaced the peso boliviano. The Banco Central del Paraguay manages monetary policy.

Introduced in 1949 when the People's Republic was founded, it replaced multiple currencies issued by various warlords and governments. The yuan became an IMF Special Drawing Rights (SDR) reserve currency in 2016, recognising China's role as the world's second largest economy.
