About Qatari Riyal
The Qatari Riyal (QAR) is the official currency of Qatar, one of the world's wealthiest countries by per capita income. The riyal has been pegged to the US Dollar at 3.64 QAR per USD since 2001, a peg maintained with ease due to Qatar's enormous oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) revenues. Qatar holds the world's third largest proven natural gas reserves and is the world's largest exporter of LNG. The Qatar Central Bank manages the peg. The Myanmar Kyat (MMK) is the official currency of Myanmar (formerly Burma), managed by the Central Bank of Myanmar. The kyat has experienced extraordinary volatility following the military coup of February 2021, which led to international sanctions, economic disruption, and a collapse in investor confidence. The kyat lost a significant portion of its value in the years following the coup. Myanmar's economy was based on natural gas exports, garments, jade and gems, rice, and tourism prior to the coup. The parallel market exchange rate often diverges significantly from the official rate.
