About Turkish Lira
The Turkish Lira (TRY) is the official currency of Turkey and Turkish Northern Cyprus. Turkey redenominated in 2005, replacing the old Turkish lira at a rate of 1,000,000 to 1 to eliminate the impact of decades of high inflation. The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) manages monetary policy. The South African Rand (ZAR) is the official currency of South Africa, taking its name from the Witwatersrand (White Waters Ridge), the major gold reef that underpins the Johannesburg metropolitan area and made South Africa the world's leading gold producer for much of the 20th century.
