About Uruguayan Peso
The Uruguayan Peso (UYU) is the official currency of Uruguay, one of Latin America's most stable, prosperous, and democratic nations. The current peso was introduced in 1993, replacing the nuevo peso at a rate of 1,000 to 1 following a period of inflation. The Banco Central del Uruguay manages monetary policy with a floating exchange rate. Uruguay has a well-developed economy with high per capita income relative to regional peers, driven by agriculture (soybeans, beef, dairy, rice, wool), financial services, software exports, and tourism.
About Bulgarian Lev
The Bulgarian Lev (BGN) is the official currency of Bulgaria, with a history dating to 1880 when it replaced the Turkish piastre after Bulgaria's liberation. The word "lev" means "lion" in Bulgarian. Following a severe financial crisis in 1996-1997, a currency board was established and the lev was pegged first to the Deutsche Mark and then to the Euro at 1.95583 BGN per EUR. Bulgaria is an EU member since 2007 and is working towards adopting the Euro. The Bulgarian National Bank issues the lev, which is divided into 100 stotinki.
