About Uzbekistani Som
The Uzbekistani Som (UZS) has been the official currency of Uzbekistan since 1994, replacing the Soviet ruble after independence. The name "lari" derives from an old Georgian word meaning "hoard" or "property". The National Bank of Georgia manages monetary policy with a floating exchange rate regime. Georgia's economy has undergone significant reforms since independence, establishing strong property rights and a competitive business environment that attracted considerable foreign investment.
