About Zambian Kwacha
The Zambian Kwacha (ZMW), meaning "dawn" or "freedom" in Nyanja, was redenominated in January 2013 at a rate of 1,000 old kwacha (ZMK) to 1 new kwacha (ZMW), eliminating the large denominations that had accumulated from years of inflation. The Bank of Zambia manages monetary policy. Zambia is Africa's second largest copper producer and copper accounts for the bulk of its export revenues, making the kwacha highly sensitive to global copper prices. Zambia became the first African nation to default on its debt in the post-pandemic era in 2020, and completed a debt restructuring process in 2023.
About Indonesian Rupiah
The Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) is the official currency of Indonesia, the world's fourth most populous country and largest archipelago nation. The word "rupiah" derives from the Sanskrit "rupyakam" (silver). First issued in 1946, the rupiah replaced the Dutch colonial guilder. Bank Indonesia manages monetary policy. Indonesia is a member of the G20 and has one of Southeast Asia's largest economies, driven by natural resource exports (coal, palm oil, rubber, metals) and a growing domestic consumer market.
