About Canadian Dollar
The Canadian Dollar (CAD), nicknamed the "Loonie" after the loon bird on the one-dollar coin, was introduced in 1858 and has been the official currency of Canada since Confederation in 1867. Algeria is the largest country in Africa by land area and holds significant hydrocarbon reserves - oil and natural gas account for the majority of government revenues and export earnings. The dinar operates under a managed float exchange regime and is not freely convertible. Algeria has used foreign exchange controls and import restrictions to manage its balance of payments.
