About Algerian Dinar

The Algerian Dinar (DZD) has been the official currency of Algeria since 1964, replacing the Algerian franc used during the French colonial period. The Banque d'Algerie manages monetary policy. Algeria is the largest country in Africa by land area and holds significant hydrocarbon reserves - oil and natural gas account for the majority of government revenues and export earnings. The dinar operates under a managed float exchange regime and is not freely convertible. Algeria has used foreign exchange controls and import restrictions to manage its balance of payments.

About Canadian Dollar

The Canadian Dollar (CAD), nicknamed the "Loonie" after the loon bird on the one-dollar coin, was introduced in 1858 and has been the official currency of Canada since Confederation in 1867. It is the sixth most traded currency in global foreign exchange markets. Canada's economy is among the world's ten largest and is closely integrated with the US economy under the USMCA (formerly NAFTA) agreement.
